Position- Consultant and Trainer- OPI

Conducting CEO and Senior Managers assessments: interviewing CEOs and Senior managers based on a preset criterion to determine their suitability for CEO and Manager of the year awards Assessing performance of selected organizations in the areas of leadership, Governance, strategic planning, and business results for COYA wards. Process:

The project involves i) visiting the organizations to do site verification/ assessment using a questionnaires tool, interviews, and physical observations; ii) Analyzing the data collected using quantitative and qualitative statistical methods; iii) Determination of strategies used by the organizations on issues of leadership, strategic direction, customer focus, environment, information management and results and making recommendations concerning their performance.

Some organizations assessed include, Kenya Airways, Safaricom, Mabati Rolling Mills, ABC Bank, KCB Bank, Barclays Bank, Lean Energy Solutions, Post Bank, Nairobi Bottlers, Eldoret Bottlers, Signon Freight, Bamburi Cement, Britam, Cooperative Insurance Company, Crown Paints, Jubilee Insurance, Kenya Power and others.

C) (2003 2006) United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Project Coordinator Africa

Coordinating UNESCO research projects in Africa

Organizing, coordinating and facilitating workshops and conferences

Consultant and project coordinator for UNESCO’s Africa wide project designed to identify

1) “Best policies and practices that promote growth of Small Scale and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises” in nine African countries.

2) “Best policies and practices for Micro-Finance Institutions in nine select African countries – (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and South Africa). Process:

I) Providing the overall direction and coordination of the project under the general guidance of UNESCO’s director for Bureau in Africa

ii) Formulating projects definition. Preparing project proposal guidelines, and formats.

iii) Receiving, Evaluating, critiquing, and recommending good project proposals from each country to UNESCO for funding;

iv) Developing and documenting variables and parameters for measuring the presence and level of usage of ICT and other technologies and measuring various policies and practices at country, business and financer levels

v) Organizing local and regional conferences, meetings and workshops to discuss implementation, reports and results

vi) Facilitating and guiding discussions during workshops and meetings to ensure relevance and focus on project scope and content vii) Ensuring the project schedules, timings, budget, reporting guide, accuracy of results etc. are adhered to

viii) Following up and coordinating with each country’s team member to ensure project reports are submitted on schedule

ix) Organizing and facilitating the workshops x) Participating in selected country’s workshops by providing expert advice and experience on pertinent issues related to the project, xi) Documenting the project including

Participating in the advocacy of the identified policies and practice.

University Work Experience

Prof. Okeyo is the current Vice – Chancellor at the Management University of Africa (MUA). He teaches both master’s and PhD level students. The Teaching Units includes Leadership, Governance and Ethics; Entrepreneurship; Statistics, Quantitative Strategic Management, Micro and Macro – Economics among others.
